Ward Manager - National Psychosis Unit

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to lead our National Psychosis Unit service and work with the already established multidisciplinary team who are highly skilled and dedicated to the service users they work with. The role involves regular contact with the Clinical Service Manager, General Manager and nursing directorate colleagues to help ensure the Ward Manager feels confident and supported in their role, in addition to continued professional development opportunities and a Trust-wide Staff Support Service and networks to help you connect with others within SLaM and beyond.

• Overall service management, responsible for the delivery of a specialist inpatient service.
• Management of Nursing care and practice, ensuring that all nursing practice is developed using up to date evidence-based practice, and that all nursing staff have the appropriate skill base and support mechanisms to access training to work with the service user group.
• Management of financial and material resources, ensuring these are managed within the allocated budget.
• Setting, monitoring and evaluating clinical standards of care and practice in liaison with Clinical Service Manager and Nursing management.
• Management of Human Resources, maintaining the efficient use of staffing resources on the ward ensuring staffing levels are safe and appropriate and contain the necessary skill mix on each shift.
• Environmental management, adhering to environmental and clinical safety standards at all times.
• Personal development and Freedom to Act, being prepared to physically move between sites as needed and remaining up to date with current developments and practice in your clinical area.
• Deputising for the matron as required. They may also undertake site wide co-ordination roles as required, eg. DSN when needed.
• Communicating with service users and carers, nursing team and other professionals on a daily basis.
