We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic registered Children's Nurse to join our Children's Community Nursing Team (CCNT). As a Children's Community Nurse (CCN), you will play a crucial role in delivering high- quality nursing care to children in their home environments. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting assessments, developing care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and ensuring proper documentation and follow- up.

This is a part-time position, offering a 33-hour working week, which will also involve participating in a weekend rota and providing support for an end-of-life on-call rota when necessary.

  • Support and deal with patients, parents, relatives, and staff in stressful situationsandrecognisingtheneedforcounsellingandreferonasappropriate.
  • To work in a collaborative manner with other agencies to ensure a seamless delivery of care to families
  • Toworkflexiblytofacilitatea7-dayservice.

    Thiswillincludeworkingweekends andbankholidaysaspertheroster.

    Additionally,therewillbeanexpectationto participateina
    24-houron-callrotawhenprovidingcareforend-of-lifepatients.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Children)
  • Degree in Community Specialist Community Children’s nursing
  • Teaching & Assessing Module/course
  • Clinical Leadership Programme.
Experience
  • Experience in assessment, planning and evaluation of patient care according to individual needs.
  • Experience working with children who have complex health, long term conditions and/or palliative care needs.
  • Demonstrate experience of mentoring and understanding of the assessment process for student nurses and any other member of the MDT.
  • Recent experience of caring for an acutely unwell child.
  • Community Nursing
  • Evidence of audit or research project.
  • Experience in conducting appraisal/IPR.
Skills
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in supporting the team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply research evidence to clinical practice and professional issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to supervise and mentor and assess more junior staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with and to use resources effectively as part of the MDT.
  • Ability to prioritise/adapt quickly and organise own workload and workload of the wider team.
  • IV competent.
  • Experience of caring for children with Enteral feeding devices.
  • Experience of caring for children with Central Venous Access Device
  • Ability to deliver teaching sessions to schools and families
Knowledge
  • Demonstrate an understanding of normal child development and the sick child.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of child safeguarding issues.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of managing resources.
  • Knowledge of oncology and chemotherapy
