Resident Oncology Fellow

As a Resident Oncology Fellow, you'll work closely with our experienced Consultants and nursing teams, providing high-quality medical and clinical support to patients across our Oncology ward, Outpatient Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Units.

Provide clinical care and supervision to Oncology inpatients and outpatients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy, working closely with Consultants and the multidisciplinary team.

Assess and clinically evaluate patients before and during chemotherapy, escalating concerns and changes in condition appropriately.

Support the management of acute oncology presentations, including neutropenic sepsis, treatment-related toxicities and other oncological emergencies.

Attend daily ward rounds, Unit meetings, Cancer MDTs and other relevant clinical meetings as required.

Provide emergency and urgent medical support to patients across the DDW wing, including out-of-hours cover as required.

Support the Haematology team, including weekend and out-of-hours cover, working closely with the Consultant Haematologist.

Prescribe non-chemotherapy medication, complete drug charts and TTOs, and ensure appropriate investigations are arranged within scope of practice.

Following appropriate training, approve chemotherapy go-aheads using MOSAIQ and update patient records on ARIA as required.

Ensure effective handover and clear, accurate and timely clinical documentation, including discharge summaries.

Work collaboratively with Consultants, nursing, pharmacy, palliative care and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and compassionate patient care.

You'll play an important role in supporting patient treatment, managing symptoms and responding appropriately to changes in patients’ conditions. The role also provides valuable experience across our wider oncology and haematology services, including providing out-of-hours cover for the Haematology ward at nights and weekends.

You’ll build strong relationships with patients, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring care is delivered safely, compassionately and to the highest standards. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to effective reporting and audit processes.
