Recovery Nurse Practitioner

The Royal London Hospital is seeking a motivated Band 5 Recovery Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic perioperative and recovery team. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality care to patients following surgery and those requiring enhanced Level 2 monitoring and support. Our hospital boasts 21 state-of-the-art theatres, dedicated to a range of elective and emergency specialties and complex procedures, including Hepatobiliary, complex ENT, trauma & orthopaedics, reconstructive orthopaedics, neurosurgery, complex vascular surgery, interventional radiology, maxillofacial surgery, robotic procedures, renal transplants, plastic reconstructive surgery, Urology and ophthalmic surgery.

We also offer paediatric expertise to the major trauma service for Southeast England. As a Recovery Nurse Practitioner, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients throughout the post-operative period. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, monitor and manage patients following anaesthesia and surgery, ensuring their safe recovery and transfer to the appropriate clinical area.

The successful candidate will have, or be keen to develop, knowledge and skills in caring for:

• Post-operative patients following a range of surgical procedures.
• Patients requiring Level 2 care and enhanced physiological monitoring.
• Patients recovering from general, regional and other forms of anaesthesia.
• Patients requiring airway management, oxygen therapy and close respiratory monitoring.
• Patients with complex post-operative needs and deteriorating clinical conditions.
• Patients requiring effective pain, nausea and fluid management.

• Undertake comprehensive assessment and ongoing monitoring of post-operative patients.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration.
• Provide safe and effective airway and respiratory care.
• Monitor cardiovascular, neurological and other physiological parameters.
• Support the management of patients requiring Level 2 care.
• Administer medication safely and manage post-operative pain and nausea.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
