We are looking for an experienced Nurse or ODP to rise to the challenge and join our expanding Anaesthetic Pre-op Assessment and Sedation Service.

Previous pre-op assessment skills or sedation experience is preferred but not essential. Teaching and support will be provided in areas such as assessment skills, cannulation, venepuncture, airway management and management skills as required.

We are committed to your training and development, and you will be supported by the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Lead Consultant.

To be a clinical expert within the specialty

To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team (Sedation and APOA) and ensure the provision of high-quality nursing care to children and families

To undertake anaesthetic pre-operative assessment of elective patients that are being admitted for a procedure or operation under general anaesthetic

To ensure that each child or young person is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated in negotiation with the family, and that this is accurately documented

To provide advanced clinical care through health assessment, initiation of treatment, formulation and alteration of treatment and monitoring of care programs to children and young people within the sedation department

To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team involved in our patients' care

To support the development of clinical protocols and care pathways for a specific case load of patients

To facilitate the development of evidence based clinical practice through improvement, research and audit

To support the CNS, ANP and PE team with the education of the multidisciplinary team

To be an expert clinical resource for other healthcare practitioners.

To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources

To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager
