Wapping Group Practice is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our well-established, friendly and innovative team.
We are seeking a qualified Practice Nurse to join us on a permanent part-time or full-time basis, working 24 to 37.5 hours per week over 3 to 5 days.
We welcome applications from experienced and newly qualified Practice Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse who can provide a friendly, caring and professional nursing service to our 11,000 patients.
The role will involve a broad range of primary care nursing duties, including cervical screening (cytology), wound care, suture and clip removal, asthma and COPD management, diabetes management, childhood and DES immunisations, requesting pathology tests such as urine cultures and swabs, and the assessment, monitoring and management of long-term conditions.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with GPs, clinicians and the wider practice team to provide high-quality, patient-centred care and ensure the health and wellbeing needs of our patients are met.

Wapping Group Practice is a well-established, respected training and teaching practice with a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, including 10 GPs, 1 Practice Nurse, 4 Pharmacists, 2 HCAs and a dedicated support team of 12 including managers and administrative staff.

Job responsibilitiesThe Practice Nurse will work as part of the practice’s multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to the practice population. The post holder will deliver appropriate treatment, screening, health promotion, education and clinical advice within their professional competence and scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical and Treatment Room DutiesThe Practice Nurse will provide a broad range of clinical services, including:
- Wound assessment, treatment and ongoing wound management.
- Removal of sutures and clips.
- Administration of routine injections and vaccinations.
- Cervical screening (cytology) in accordance with national guidance.
- Taking and recording blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and other clinical observations.
- Supporting patients with inhaler technique and respiratory self-management.
- Ear care where appropriately trained and within practice policy.
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and other clinical procedures.
- Undertaking clinical assessments and providing appropriate treatment and advice within scope of practice.
- Requesting appropriate pathology investigations, such as urine cultures and swabs, in accordance with practice protocols.
- Reviewing and acting on investigation results within agreed clinical protocols and scope of practice.
- Providing appropriate follow-up and safety-netting advice.
The post holder will contribute to the assessment, monitoring and management of patients with long-term conditions, including:
- Diabetes.
- Asthma.
- COPD.
- Hypertension.
- Cardiovascular disease.
- Other chronic conditions relevant to the practice population.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting structured reviews and assessments.
- Monitoring clinical indicators and outcomes.
- Developing and reviewing individual care plans.
- Providing self-management advice and education.
- Identifying deterioration and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Making appropriate referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team and external services.
