Job Summary

The Quality Engineer will work collaboratively with the Subcontractors, Delivery and Engineering Teams to ensure that quality arrangements are understood, promote quality awareness and adoption of best practice and facilitate quality inspections and surveillance to ensure compliance with the quality processes and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote the Quality Culture of ‘Right First Time, Every Time’ within the Project Team, Consultants and Subcontractors.
  • Promote Quality Awareness among the Project Team, Consultants and Subcontractors.
  • Review all Subcontractor Deliverables (Quality Plans, ITPs, ITRs, MCRs, Samples, Benchmarks and Mock-ups, Calibration Registers etc) to ensure they meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and the Subcontractor Works Information.
  • Ensure compliance with the Inspection and Test Process on site.
  • Weekly review of Subcontractor records to ensure progressive assuring of the works.
  • Ensure all the evidence to support compliance with the Inspection and Test Plans have been submitted by the Subcontractors.
  • Perform daily/weekly site quality surveillance as per the Quality Delivery Surveillance Programme and ensure all the listed documents in the ITP is available in system and accepted.
  • Prepare weekly Quality Surveillance Reports (QSR).
  • Ensure non-conformances identified during the site quality surveillance are raised/escalated.
  • Attend Delivery / Subcontractor Progress meetings of that the necessary quality support can be provided.
  • Ensure that newly onboarded Subcontractors and Delivery personnel are given Quality training i.e. SWI 600, NCR, ITP/ITR, MCR etc.
  • Take part in Lessons Learnt workshops to support continual improvement when required.
  • Be consulted and provide input into the project quality procedures.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the Quality Team, Project Team and Subcontractors.
  • Use Quality Management Tools and Techniques to improve processes and identify root causes of problems.
  • Support the Delivery Teams on the preparation and issue of the Handover Package Listing required for projects and Utilities stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly reports on Quality Performance of Project Team and Subcontractors:
    Good Practices, Status of Non-conformances, Trend Analysis, Status of Audits, KPIs, ITPs and the Cost of Quality.
  • Conduct monthly meeting with Procurement managers on upcoming packages of works and update the quality tracker accordingly.
  • Undertake monthly Subcontractors performance scoring.
  • Carry out snagging with Subcontractors upon completion of the works and arrange joint inspection.
  • Notification to be sent out client other stakeholders on their ITP control points.
  • Chair NEC Supervisor meeting with Client in the absence of QDM.
Technical Skills And Competencies
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control processes for Non-conformance / Defect Management, Inspection and Testing, Materials Inspection and Control of Measuring Equipment.
  • Good analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Able to prepare Quality Performance Reports.
  • Able to prepare Quality Training modules.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills with an ability to relay potentially complex ideas clearly and simply.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
Qualifications, Certifications And Experience
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Control.
  • Experience working in large infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role with aligned responsibilities & accountabilities.
