We are looking for an experienced Fractional Vulnerability Research and Threat Intelligence Editor to support our Labs team by editing and preparing cybersecurity vulnerability research for publication. This role is focused on refining highly technical research into clear, structured, and readable blog posts that align with the tone and quality of the watch
Towr Labs blog.
This is an ongoing, part-time engagement suited to a senior, specialised writer or editor with deep familiarity with security research content.
Sounds great – what will I do?Our security researchers produce high-quality vulnerability and threat research, but we have a backlog of content waiting to be published. We are looking for someone experienced specifically in this type of material to clean up, structure, and polish research outputs for public release.
This is primarily an editing and editorial role, not a greenfield writing position.
On average, the role involves:
- Editing approximately one Labs blog post per week
- Around 5 - 6 hours per week
- Edit, structure, and refine vulnerability research and technical blog posts written by security researchers
- Ensure posts are clear, logically structured, and readable while preserving technical accuracy
- Replicate and maintain the tone, style, and quality of existing Labs blog posts
- Improve clarity, flow, and narrative without diluting technical depth
- Work with researchers to resolve ambiguity or improve explanations where required
- Manage light editorial workflow tasks such as tracked edits, versioning, and feedback loops.
Core Skills
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity
, particularly vulnerability research, responsible disclosure, penetration testing, or threat research - Proven experience as a technical editor or technical writer working with highly technical content
- Excellent copy-editing skills - grammar, clarity, tone, structure, and flow
- Demonstrable experience editing blog posts or long‑form technical research (not documentation‑only roles)
- Comfortable working with technical authors and translating SME‑written material into polished public‑facing content
- Reliable availability and willingness to engage on an ongoing, regular cadence
A strong candidate is likely to have:
- A technical background in security, engineering, or adjacent fields,
or - Experience as a journalist or reporter covering cybersecurity or technical subjects
- Clear examples of historical work editing or publishing vulnerability research or similar technical content
- Familiarity with vulnerability disclosure processes and research publication norms
- Experience using collaborative editing tools such as Word, Notion, or similar
- Light SEO awareness for technical blogs (not a primary requirement)
