About us

The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.

The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher.

This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.

About the Experimental Histopathology STP

The Experimental Histopathology (EHP) Science Technology Platform (STP) provides expert support for histology-based analysis of experimental tissues and human bioresources, while building institutional capability in areas such as experimental pathology, human disease modelling, advanced histological techniques and researcher training.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Laboratory Research Scientist to join the EHP STP. You will deliver and lead multiplex immunofluorescence projects using automated staining platforms, supporting cutting-edge research on experimental models and human tissues.

Working closely with Crick researchers and other STPs, you will meticulously generate, record and manage experimental data. This includes preparing and documenting protocols and dilutions, ensuring all results are precise, consistent and reproducible. This role is ideal for an experienced scientist who enjoys problem-solving, training others and making a tangible impact on biomedical research.

  • The ability to work independently, take ownership of complex technical work and manage multiple priorities.
  • A proven track record as a problem-solver, with a flexible and solution-focused approach.
  • Experience training or supporting others in laboratory techniques.
  • Clear communication skills and an enjoyment of collaborative work in a busy research environment.
