Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust are excited to announce that we are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our research nursing team as a Research & Innovation Matron.

GOSH is an internationally recognised symbol of excellence in paediatric medical research, and the leading children's medical research centre in Europe. Funded by the NIHR GOSH Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) we are at the forefront of discovery into the basis of rare childhood diseases. A number of entirely novel, experimental therapies are being trialled in children with rare diseases including cancer, muscular dystrophies, kidney disease and metabolic diseases.

In February 2024, we moved into a brand-new, purpose-built NIHR funded Clinical Research Facility. This state-of-the-art facility will allow us to provide children and their families with improved facilities and a more comfortable environment for them, supporting their participation in research.

Main duties of the job

The Matron will work collaboratively with the Associate Chief Nurse for Research & Innovation to lead the speciality senior research nursing teams and CRF sister, ensuring that robust systems of governance and performance management are in place to deliver high quality child and family centred research services. The post-holder will work collaboratively to deliver the clinical research service alongside the Advanced Clinical Practice Research Nursing team.

The post holder will need to have a clear understanding of the research process and be confident in leading on all aspects of early phase and IMP clinical research as well as being responsible for the day-to-day operational management of clinical research nursing service.

This is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated and experienced paediatric research nurse. You must have effective organisational skills and be looking for a new and exciting challenge. Previous early phase and IMP research experience is essential for the post along with excellent operational leadership and significant line management experience.
