Lead Explainable DL Scientist BioAI

As an Applied Research Scientist you will take a lead role in this mission, with a focus on the application of deep learning explainability methods to biological models.

Role Responsibilities

• Apply deep learning explainability methods to guide research and uncover new fundamental science, particularly in the domain of DNA/RNA/protein biology.
• Promote awareness of explainable AI techniques among colleagues and mentor/advise in their use.
• Develop new explainability techniques and application methods to achieve scientific objectives.
• Assist in the interpretation of explainability results and their implications.
• Present findings effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Undertake other activities in biological deep learning as required.

Essential Skills

• PhD in Deep Learning or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
• 3 or more years of experience with deep learning explainability methods.
• Expert skills in practical application of diverse explainability methods and understanding of explainability theory.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully undertake high-quality research, for example through the publication of high impact scientific papers in journals or conferences or successfully commercialised patents.
• Strong interest in biochemistry and awareness of fundamental concepts.
• Ability to write high quality code in Python.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Published research in the field of explainable AI.
• Research or commercial experience in biochemistry.
• Experience with explainability applied to transformer architectures or biological models.
• Experience working in clinical or pharmaceutical contexts.
