We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Blizard Institute. The project focuses on understanding the physiology of the area postrema in regulating the body–brain axis and energy homeostasis.
Applicants must have experience in stereotaxic surgery, venous cannulation, and intracardiac perfusion. Essential skills include metabolic phenotyping, analysis of metabolic cage data, glucose tolerance testing, and drug administration through various routes. Strong laboratory experience in brain tissue processing, cryostat sectioning, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, fluorescence microscopy, image analysis, and molecular biology techniques such as ELISA and RT-PCR is also required.
You will hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, Physiology, or a related field, with proven experience in, stereotaxic surgery, metabolic phenotyping, and neuroscience laboratory techniques including immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, fluorescence microscopy, and molecular biology methods such as ELISA and RT-PCR. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong communication and time-management skills and a willingness to learn and contribute to wider research projects.
