Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support ongoing tasks within the ERC Synergy project Endo Theranostics investigating the design, fabrication and operation of inflatable structures. The role is highly hands‑on and will be performed in the Robotics Lab of the Centre for Advanced Robotics at Queen Mary. Work involves experimental research, analysis, dissemination and collaboration across the project team.
Qualifications- Undergraduate and/or MSc degree (or equivalent) in Robotics, Bioengineering, Bionic Engineering or a related field and/or demonstrable equivalent experience, e.g. in a relevant industrial sector.
- PhD degree in Robotics or currently undertaking PhD studies in Robotics (or similar field) with a strong background in soft and inflatable robotics.
- Good knowledge and experience in the design, fabrication and operation of base‑fixed inflatable fabric robots for interaction with the physical environment.
- Experience in prototyping robotic structures, including experimental design, set‑up and execution.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and proficiency in report writing.
- Familiarity with programming, data acquisition or signal processing is desirable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work independently, manage time effectively and contribute positively to a collaborative research environment.
