Salary: £47,000 - £53,000 per annum
Reports to: Senior Manager, International Evidence and Research
Department: Policy, Information and Communications
Location: London, Stratford. High Flex, 1‑2 days in the office. Open to flexible working requests and home‑working arrangements. Note this is an international role and will require meetings/calls outside of normal working hours and occasional international travel.
Employment type: 1 Permanent and 1 Fixed‑Term Contract (2.5 years)
Working hours: 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities- Lead and deliver complex, multi‑strand research projects across the ICBP portfolio
- Design, manage and oversee high‑quality research, ensuring robust methods, analysis and impactful outputs
- Commission external research, including drafting tenders, assessing proposals, and managing contracts, budgets and timelines
- Work closely with international partners, clinicians, policymakers and researchers to maximise the impact of ICBP evidence
- Translate complex findings into clear, accessible outputs (e.g., briefings, reports, presentations) for a wide range of audiences
- Influence decision‑makers by communicating evidence effectively and confidently
- Represent ICBP at external meetings and conferences, sharing insights and building networks
- Keep the ICBP Programme Board and stakeholders informed and engaged at key stages of research
- Critically appraise, synthesise and distil evidence into clear, actionable insights
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across CRUK, ICBP partners and external stakeholders
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment and support ad hoc priorities as needed
- Occasionally attend meetings outside standard hours and undertake some international travel
- Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in research, evaluation or a related field—ideally within health
- Strong experience delivering a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods (evidence reviews, interviews, surveys, consensus building approaches)
- Confidence analysing and integrating data from multiple sources to generate meaningful insights
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for both specialist and non‑specialist audiences
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to deliver high‑quality work on time and within budget
- Strong organisational skills, able to balance detail with strategic priorities
- Ability to quickly interpret scientific literature and draw well‑founded conclusions
- A proactive, motivated approach with a focus on producing high‑quality, impactful work
- High attention to detail alongside an understanding of the bigger picture and opportunities for impact
- Ability to work independently while managing complex projects
- Strong relationship‑building skills, working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience using statistical and qualitative analysis software (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R, NVivo)
- Understanding of research ethics and data protection requirements
- Experience working in research of cancer diagnosis, treatment, workforce, models of care, public health or international evidence
- Experience preparing and publishing academic research papers
- Experience using creative and engaging methods to share research findings and influence decision makers
