Research Assistant in Computational Psychiatry

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Computational Psychotherapy Lab (cpt-lab.org), led by Dr Isabel Berwian, based in the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology and the Max Planck UCL Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research. The CPT-Lab is an interdisciplinary, collaborative team focused on understanding and improving psychological interventions.

The postholder will join a Wellcome Trust–funded international collaboration with Princeton University investigating the mechanisms underlying anxiety and its treatment. The position is based at UCL, which is ranked first in the UK for research power in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience ().

About the role

You will contribute to a five-year project examining why fear returns after exposure therapy and how it can be prevented. The role includes assistance with behavioural, neural and clinical study designs, data collection and analyses and publications across three linked studies.

You will additionally be responsible for participant management, work effectively within an interdisciplinary team, and support delivery of project milestones and have the opportunity to run small projects independently. This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff (see ).

Funding for this post is currently in place for one year and is anticipated to run at least until September 2030, dependent on the successful delivery of yearly project milestones. Salary is offered at £39,148 per annum (inclusive of London allowance).

About you

You will have (or be close to completing) a MSc in psychology, neuroscience, computational modelling, or a related field, with programming skills and experience in behavioural research. Experience with either neuroimaging data collection or clinical populations are essential.

You should be available to start in post as soon as possible.
