Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Researcher to join the Regional Experience team in London. You will help build an open and fair financial system by shaping products and services for North America and APAC markets.

Your Mission

Focus on Growth for North America and APAC, working with cross‑functional teams to understand customer needs and behaviours. Emphasize scaling how we evaluate Wise products before rolling them out to new markets, using hands‑on research, operational frameworks and coaching.

As a Staff Researcher, You’ll Contribute By
  • Setting priorities and research direction – proactively prioritise work and align it to squad and business goals.
  • Demonstrating strong craft and capabilities – lead by example in complex evaluative research, raising the bar for quality and rigor.
  • Scaling international research – engage vendors and agencies to expand evaluative research across APAC and North America.
  • Articulating strategy – clearly communicate research strategy to the team and key stakeholders, positively influencing focus and priorities.
  • Driving impact – leverage insights to shape product direction today and for the future.
  • Influencing senior leaders – negotiate with teams, squads and senior leaders to drive user‑centred decision making.
  • Leading with ambition – set ambitious goals, champion quality, users, and a human‑centred approach.
  • Using modern tools thoughtfully – apply AI and emerging tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining rigor.
A bit about you…
  • Deep experience in research democratisation and enabling non‑researchers to connect with customers.
  • Strong judgment in choosing the right research approach for varying ambiguity and complexity.
  • Skilled at building decision confidence through well‑designed studies and clear evidence.
  • Expert at linking user evidence to business outcomes that drive action.
  • Proven track record of scaling research influence across teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with mixed‑method studies and modern research tools, including thoughtful use of AI.
  • Ability to guide teams to action insights, working closely with designers.
  • Top‑notch presentation and storytelling skills when sharing impactful insights.
Research Operations Competencies
  • Experience building iterative, repeatable evaluative research practices and programs.
  • Proven ability to identify bottlenecks in research processes and remove them, using AI tools where appropriate.
  • Track record of engaging external agencies and vendors to conduct international research.
Strategic Impact
  • Ability to articulate research strategy and influence squad and team focus.
  • Deep understanding of how research connects to team, squad and business goals.
  • Examples of mentoring non‑researchers in conducting quality research and maintaining overall quality.
  • Examples of mentoring to create downstream impact through growth.
As a heads up, this role probably isn’t for you if
  • Your experience is primarily market research and/or academia.
  • You haven’t conducted international research or worked with external agencies.
  • You are not comfortable navigating the complexity of overseeing multiple product areas in a fast‑paced environment.
