We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Centre for Food Policy on a 20‑week NIHR‑funded project exploring opportunities to improve the Healthy Start scheme for low‑income families. Working within a multidisciplinary team of leading researchers and external partners, the postholder will support mixed‑methods research activities, including ethical approval processes, qualitative data collection, stakeholder engagement and project delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research that informs national policy and helps create fairer, healthier and more sustainable food systems.

You will support and facilitate research activities across the project, working closely with researchers and work package leads. You will lead ethics applications and qualitative data collection, contribute to the development of research materials and survey tools, support project communications and dissemination activities, and assist in the production of academic publications, reports and case studies. You will also contribute to wider project objectives and support the activities of the Centre for Food Policy as required.

You will hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject and have knowledge of public health research methods, including qualitative and survey approaches, alongside a strong understanding of the Healthy Start scheme. You will have experience conducting qualitative research, engaging with diverse stakeholders and public participants, and communicating research findings. You will possess excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
