Jobs in Structural Biology and Related Fields Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Assistant positions
Imperial College London, London, United Kingdom
Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Assistant positions in the laboratory of Dr. Doryen Bubeck are available, funded up to 5 years through a Cancer Research UK Career Establishment Award. The main objective is to use structural biology to characterize the 3D structure and mode of action of pore‑forming proteins with immune receptors in model membranes.
In this role you will investigate how complement‑dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) is mediated by membrane attack complexes (MAC) and the bacterial toxin intermedilysin (ILY), and understand the role of CD59 in these processes. The work aims to inform cancer immunotherapy strategies.
The position will be based at Imperial College London, in the Department of Life Sciences, and will involve collaboration with membrane biophysicists, immunologists, and microbiologists at partner institutions. You will have access to state‑of‑the‑art electron microscopy facilities equipped with FEG electron microscopes and advanced detectors.
Applicants should have experience in structural biology techniques and a strong understanding of biophysical methods. Experience with membrane proteins or pore‑forming complexes is preferred. A collaborative and interdisciplinary approach is essential for success.
