About the role

This post is funded by a new exciting partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This partnership, the Fleming Initiative, aims to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through a people-centred and convergence science approach. The Fleming Initiative offers an innovative approach to the challenge of AMR, combining research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions that work to protect the health security of local populations around the world.

This project falls within the Public Engagement and Behaviour Change pillar of the Initiative.

What you would be doing

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant/Associate passionate about behavioural science, to join our friendly and highly motivated team. You will be responsible for delivering two of the research work streams at the Fleming Centre:

  • Workstream 1: This workstream will be conducted in collaboration with the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT), and will aim to co-design a series of "nudges" – interventions that will change specific aspects of behaviour related to AMR.
  • Workstream 2: This workstream will investigate how we can harness the power of video and online content to create increased public awareness and real-world behaviour change surrounding AMR. A key research question will be how we can evaluate real world impact beyond video engagement.

The Research Assistant/Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals, assist with applications to attract external research funding and participate in patient and public engagement activities.

What we are looking for
  • You will hold a PhD in behavioural science or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience to be appointed at Research Associate Level.
  • You will hold an undergraduate / Masters degree or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience to be appointed at Research Assistant level.
  • You will have advanced knowledge of research methods, particularly in behavioural science research, including interviews, focus groups and data analysis.
  • You will possess excellent communication skills and be confident in developing good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • In addition, you will be a motivated team player, working together with the goal to achieve the Centre's objectives.
What we can offer you
  • The opportunity to work on cutting edge research linking data science with the problem of AMR.
  • The chance to be part of a diverse, cross-disciplinary team with a strong track record in supporting career progression within the field.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to continue science for humanity.
  • Grow your career: gain access to Imperial's sector-leading dedicated career support for researchers as well as opportunities for promotion and progression.
  • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days off a year and generous pension schemes).
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
