Based in our Faculty of Natural Sciences , you will be supporting the Partnerships team. The main aim of the Partnerships Team is to maximise the impact of Imperial's academic discoveries by stimulating, identifying, managing and progressing opportunities to develop research and technologies through collaboration and commercialisation.

To deliver successfully its mission, the Partnerships team members need to demonstrate a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the College's expertise to respond quickly and effectively to relevant enquiries and opportunities. A sound awareness of the external environment - markets, technology/science trends, industry news - is also essential for designing and implementing the Partnerships team's engagement and commercialisation strategy.

You will gain experience of partnership creation and management. The main aim of our team is to maximise the impact of Imperial's academic research by stimulating, creating, managing, and progressing opportunities to develop research and technologies through collaboration and partnerships.

What you would be doing

As a service provider to the Faculty of Natural Sciences , the successful candidates will work alongside experienced professionals on the following activities:

  • Supporting Partnerships Officers, Executives and Senior Executives in generating and managing collaborative research, education and translation opportunities with corporate partners, both directly funded and via public funders such as Research Councils, government departments, Innovate UK and the European Union
  • Map internal expertise/capability in relevant areas specific to corporate opportunities e.g. within the sectors in areas of natural sciences.
  • Market research, (e.g., monitoring of emerging trends, sector analysis and industrial organisations) to understand market strategies, research challenges and technical priorities, to support development of Faculty technologies
  • Marketing, communication of University research capability and technology through creation of marketing material and planning of engagement activities (e.g., presentations, workshops, showcasing events)
  • Draft communications to external partners, (e.g., industry, government etc) to publicise opportunities for engagement with Faculty led initiatives and external funding opportunities
  • Assist with due diligence processes on existing and prospective industry partners
