Research & Education Officer - Volunteer

We want to to create a more positive and informed understanding of animals through education, media, outreach, and public engagement.

Can you support us in finding evidence-based educational content and projects related to animal ethics and social change?

The role will support the organisation by

• establishing a rigorous science‑based foundation to our approach of empathy and compassion
• keeping the project up to date with the developments in both animal rights and welfare
• creating affiliations between The Empathy Project and key thinkers and writers in the topic area.

• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly.
• Academic or professional research experience is beneficial but not required.
• Good understanding of animal rights and ethics
• Strong interest in animal rights and ethics

• Conduct literature reviews and background research.
• Gather and analyse information from credible sources.
• Assist with fact‑checking articles, workshops, and educational materials.
• Monitor developments in animal rights and ethics, education, and public policy.
• Prepare concise research summaries and briefings.
• Support project development with evidence and data.
