We are seeking an exceptional Future Networks Technologist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract (4 days per week), supporting the IUK funded AESTRAM project: AI-orchestrated End-to-End Secured Integration of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks for Resilient Advanced Manufacturing (AESTRAM). Based in London, you will play a leading role in the research and development of next-generation network architectures, with a particular focus on network and service orchestration across Open and Quantum-Safe Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks (TN/NTN).
This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic stakeholder engagement. You will work alongside leading researchers, engineers, industry partners, and academic collaborators, translating complex technical concepts into practical solutions and impactful research outcomes.
- Work closely with senior and highly skilled team members on open future network architectures across the AESTRAM project. Contribute expertise to shape the research directions around future network technologies, focusing on multi-domain service orchestration in 6G, including AI services, and TN/NTN.
- Actively participate in architecture, functions, and interfaces design within the AESTRAM research project. Conceive, develop, evaluate and defend novel original research ideas around the topics of future open, AI-powered and quantum-safe networking. Consolidate the ideas in the form of publications, simulations, IPRs, and demonstrations.
- Benchmark & optimise the performance of the E2E Open RAN systems in a cabled and OTA environment across the AESTRAM project using specialised Test & Measurement tools (Test UEs, UE Simulator, Traffic simulator, RF spectrum analyser etc).
- Using Digital Catapult's advanced future networking/5G testbed facilities to direct and assist in development of the required software and associated demonstration network.
- Prepare and carry out oral presentations and written reports across the AESTRAM project in technical and progress meetings. Ensure quality deliverables, transfer competences and research results to stakeholders.
