About us The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute’s vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice.

The post is in the Centre for Clinical Research in Infection and Sexual Health in IGH. We have a large research programme covering a diverse range of studies from observational cohort studies to treatment trials for HIV infection, other sexually transmitted infections and viral hepatitis. We have an expanding programme of studies on STI prevention including vaccine and prophylaxis studies, as well as in social and implementation science.  

About the role

The Senior Clinical Research Manager will provide professional leadership, coordination of, and support to the research delivery team (comprising research nurses, research assistants and data mangers) within the Centre for Clinical Research in infection and Sexual Health (CRISH).  The postholder will act as the managerial lead covering all aspects of research expert practice, education and development and leadership.

This is a full-time role available for 2 years in the first instance.

Salary range: 68,284 to 76,244 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

The successful candidate must have:

Master’s level qualification or equivalent experience

Extensive experience of clinical research within various HEI/NHS settings and specialties

Knowledge of the clinical trial life cycle including experience of the set up and performance management of clinical research studies

Knowledge of current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research studies

Experience of developing, implementing, and following standard operating procedures

Experience of managing studies including recruitment, implementation of contingency planning, project plans, risk analysis and the implementation of innovative strategies

Experience of managing high performing teams

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and negotiate

Ability to think strategically, use initiative, analyse problems, make decisions, and implement effective and appropriate solutions
