Job Overview

The post will suit a person wishing to develop a career in Clinical Research.

The main area of research for this post is using novel headset technology for assessment of Oculoplastic for Virtual and Asynchronous consultations.

Main duties of the job The Post-holder Will Be Expected To:
  • Collect clinical data (including history, examination findings, any investigations) and collate in a custom-designed database.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and clinical
  • Recruit and co-ordinate patients for a clinical trial
  • Organise, maintain and analyse project data
  • Data analysis
  • Responsibility for clinical data management and liaison with the lead investigator
  • Active participation in other ongoing research projects
  • Achieve goals, agreed in discussions with their line manager
  • Present the results of the project in national and international meetings
  • Prepare the results of the project for publication
  • Perform any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post, the title of the post and its grading as requested by their line manager
  • Undertake patient and public involvement exercises to promote the disease and the research

Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post-holder will be part of an innovative research team led by Jimmy Uddin The principal aim for this post will be to facilitate research in adnexal disease.

They post holder will have the opportunity to publish scientific papers.

The Post-holder Will Be Expected To:
  • Collect device and clinical data (including history, examination findings, any investigations) and collate in a custom-designed database.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and clinical
  • Recruit and co-ordinate patients for a clinical trial
  • Organise, maintain and analyse project data
  • Data analysis to understand the genotype-phenotype correlations
  • Responsibility for clinical data management and liaison with the lead investigator
  • Active participation in other ongoing research projects
  • Achieve goals, agreed in discussions with their line manager
  • Present the results of the project in national and international meetings
  • Prepare the results of the project for publication
  • Perform any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post, the title of the post and its grading as requested by their line manager
  • Undertake patient and public involvement exercises to promote the disease and the research
Person specification Education and Knowledge Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • FRCOphth
  • Full GMC Registration (with a Licence to Practice) or be eligible for GMC Registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Sufficient experience in Adnexal
  • Ophthalmology research experience
Experience & Training Essential criteria
  • Completion of Specialist Ophthalmology Training or Equivalent.
  • Research into educational methods.
  • Research Interest.
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) course in the last two years.
  • Experience in Adnexal clinics
  • Ophthalmology research experience
Experience Essential criteria
  • Run a clinical trial
Desirable criteria
  • Undertaken a natural history study in IRDs
