Senior Protein Scientist – Chromatin Biology

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist in Chromatin Biology to advance the molecular and biochemical characterisation of our lead clinical candidates across diverse in-cellulo and ex-cellulo techniques.

About Us

We are a biotechnology company on a mission to therapeutically rejuvenate human cells to reverse the diseases of aging. Our platform is based on a proprietary cocktail capable of safely and rapidly reprogramming aged somatic cells back to a youthful state, while preserving cellular identity.

By restoring function across multiple tissues and cell types, we aim to extend human healthspan and transform the treatment of degenerative and malignant diseases. The company’s early programs focus on haematological malignancies and age-related immune dysfunction, with systemic rejuvenation as our long-term goal.

We are a science-driven and mission-led company, united by a belief that rejuvenation biotechnology will redefine what is possible for human health.

Position

We are building and characterising a library of rejuvenation factors aiming at restoring youthful functional outputs in target cells. To support this effort, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Scientist in Chromatin Biology to personally execute hands‑on wet‑lab work while developing, optimising, and expanding our biochemical characterisation assay set‑up. This individual will be a bench‑first experimentalist who designs and runs biochemistry workflows end‑to‑end, engineering and purifying proteins encoding the rejuvenation factors.

This role will lead the biochemistry understanding of the role and activity of our lead candidates and library of factors using a combination of advanced in‑cellulo and classic biochemistry assays.

This position sits at the core of our translational engine, bridging experimental discovery to therapeutic development. Success in this role will lead to named authorship on high‑impact scientific publications.

Responsibilities Protein Engineering
  • Design and engineer protein for optimal expression, stability and function
  • Express and purify recombinant proteins in both mammalian and

    E.coli expression systems
  • Prepare protein extract for immunoprecipitation and sample preparation for Mass Spectrometry
Biochemical Assay
  • Design and run in‑vitro chromatin assays
  • Design and run advanced functional biochemical assays for understanding the activity and role of target proteins.
Leadership and mentoring
  • Supervise junior scientists, fostering technical excellence and scientific independence.
  • Maintain rigorous experimental documentation and construct tracking.
  • Promote best practices in molecular biology, data integrity, and reproducibility.
Requirements
  • PhD in Chromatin Biology or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in Chromatin Biology and Protein Engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with Histone and Chromatin Biochemistry assays (for example, MNase‑seq, DAFseq).
  • Demonstrated expertise in protein engineering including the use of protein engineering design software (for example, Alpha Fold, Schrodinger or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated Experience in protein production in

    E. coli and mammalian suspension cells system.
  • Experience with protein purification (IMAC IEX, SEC), and peptide sequencing systems (Nanopore, MS)
  • Experience with Mass Spectrometry troubleshooting and sample preparation (e.g. IP-MS)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, early‑stage biotech environment.
  • Ability to supervise Junior Scientists.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt new technologies and approaches as platform needs evolve.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with plasmid construct design including the use of cloning design software (for example, Snap Gene or equivalent).
  • Experience with in‑vivo Chromatin Assays.
  • Experience with analytical SEC and AKTA systems
  • Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks (for example, Benchling).
  • Deep domain expertise in DNA replication, DNA damage repair, epigenetic regulation, cell differentiation, and/or ageing.
