Location: Greater London

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world's leading public health universities. Applications are invited for an economist to work on a project exploring evidence informed priority setting to inform Health Benefit Package (HBP) Design for Universal Health Coverage in Rwanda and Kenya.

The postholder's role will include:

  • Contributing to work on understanding the economic consequences of health benefit package design and the resulting policy changes
  • Supporting a capacity strengthening programme around HBP design in Rwanda and Kenya
  • Contributing to written outputs.

The postholder will be part of the Global Health Economics Centre, a world-leading group of over 100 academics working on a diverse portfolio of health economics research.

The successful applicant will have expertise in the area of health economics and financing in low- and middle-income countries, strong quantitative analytical skills, and must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree (for Research Fellow) or a doctoral degree (for Assistant Professor) in a relevant discipline.

Contract and

Working Hours:

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 30 September 2028.

Funding and Salary:
The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and is available from 01 October 2026. The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, for Research Fellow Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 or for Assistant Professor Grade 7 in the range £53,317 - £61,034 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting).

The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.

Benefits:
Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary "Wellbeing Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.

The post is based in London at LSHTM.

Summary:

£45,728 to £61,034 per annum pro rata inclusive.
