About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Buyer to join our Brands team in the London office. The role is a 12‑ to 18‑month training programme with the high street brands team, looking after key brand accounts and millions of pounds worth of stock from day one.
Job DescriptionDuring the training you will receive regular feedback from your Buying team, who will coach and develop you throughout the scheme, supporting you in reaching your goals. Once ready, you will be promoted to Assistant Buyer.
The Day to Day- Serve as the go‑to contact for all brands for any queries about their products, from why a product isn’t live on site to ensuring the product looks amazing online
- Manage any product issues and keep the team updated
- Prepare packs for trade meetings and brand appointments
- Contribute ideas about key trends and new brands you’re excited about
- Use your knowledge of relevant trends to find new product initiatives missing from the department’s current offering
- Identify issues that could affect product sales and suggest improvements
- Conduct competitor shop analysis and present findings to the team to understand Next’s market position
- Maintain all buying systems and records accurately
- Work closely with the trainee merchandiser to analyse daily best/worst sellers and make recommendations
We’re looking for someone who has previous experience as a buying administrator or similar and wants to progress in their career. You thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, excel at juggling a wide range of tasks, and exhibit strong communication and relational skills that connect with colleagues and clients alike. Your analytical skills are sharp; you live and breathe fashion and can present ideas clearly and compellingly.
