Furniture Assembly Volunteer (Homestore)

Our charity raises around £100 million annually for research into heart and circulatory diseases. Volunteering with us involves helping construct flat‑pack furniture at a local BHF store—an easy, flexible, and inclusive way to support lifesaving science.

• Follow detailed build instructions for flat‑pack furniture.
• Safely assemble flat‑packed furniture for display in store or delivery to customers.
• Work to time frames for customer assembly requests – flexible shifts are an option.
• Maintain an organised and safe toolkit and workspace.
• Alert the manager to any defects or spare parts needed when constructing flat‑pack sets.
• Carry out minor repairs on donated items of furniture in agreement with the Warehouse Manager if comfortable.
• Work alongside the warehouse team, who will support you with larger items.

To be eligible you must have an interest in DIY, available spare time (a few hours a week or occasional), and at least 17 years of age with no unspent criminal convictions. This is an unpaid voluntary position in a friendly charity shop.
