Trainee Shop Manager
Hours: 45 hours across 5 days per week.
Pay: £32,648-£35,306 per annum.

Training Program: An 18‑month training programme with initial training alongside an experienced shop manager, followed by supervised shop running and eventually full responsibility. You will work towards a Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship qualification with Inspiro, supported by maths and English upskilling and paid time to complete coursework. Upon successful completion and a satisfactory evaluation, you will be made a permanent employee.
Responsibilities- Be fully accountable for your shop and ensure customers are looked after and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean and tidy environment.
- Motivate and guide your team to be efficient and successful.
- Lead by example and actively engage in day‑to‑day tasks involved in running a busy shop.
- Control key costs, including payroll, shrinkage and waste.
- Meet standards in relation to customer service, cash handling, health & safety, stock management, merchandising and presentation.
- Take responsibility for recruitment, training and development of your team.
- Complete a Basic DBS check (England/Wales) or Disclosure Scotland check if required.
- Friendly, positive and hardworking approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal skills – a people person who builds relationships easily.
- Trustworthy and reliable, suitable for a key team member whom customers and staff depend on.
- Organised and able to remain calm in busy, high‑pressured situations.
- Commitment to completing all apprenticeship provider work on time and to a high standard.
- A starting salary of £32,648.16, with a potential increase to £35,306.88 after 6 months, depending on progress and achievement of KPIs.
- A Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship qualification.

We offer permanent full‑time positions with a variety of shifts. Experience in retail, hospitality or a customer‑focused industry is desirable but not mandatory.
