Glassworks London is an independent women’s fashion retailer founded in 2010, with design-led boutiques and a fast-moving product range refreshed regularly with new fashion. Our stores are not passive shop units. They are places where customers discover product, receive styling advice, build relationships with the team and experience Glassworks as a living brand.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Retail Supervisor to support the Store Manager and help lead the store day to day. This role is for someone who is already a strong seller and is ready to take on shift-level ownership. You will help lead the shop floor, support the team, protect service and VM standards, and keep the store commercially active.

A Supervisor at Glassworks is not simply the most reliable Style Advisor. A Supervisor must show selling ability, whole-floor awareness, standards ownership, communication, judgement and the ability to support others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strong customer service, styling and fitting-room support.
  • Active selling, add-ons and basket-building.
  • Supporting the Store Manager with daily priorities and trade focus.
  • Whole-floor awareness: customers, team, standards, stock and risks.
  • Maintaining VM, rails, tables, fitting rooms, till area and stockroom standards.
  • Supporting replenishment, deliveries and stock accuracy.
  • Opening/closing and handover responsibilities where assigned.
  • Coaching, prompting and supporting Style Advisors.
  • Escalating customer, stock, safety, facilities or people issues early.
  • Supporting the Retail Store Manager with local customer development, VIP/clienteling, review management, in-store customer events and community activity.
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
  • You are a strong seller, not just a reliable keyholder.
  • You notice what is happening across the whole floor.
  • You support the Store Manager’s daily trade focus.
  • You prompt team members without taking over.
  • You keep standards visible and consistent.
  • You respond quickly when customers, stock, fitting rooms or standards need attention.
  • You escape early and clearly when something needs manager support.
  • You use quiet periods to improve the store.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALITIES
  • Strong retail, fashion, boutique, lifestyle or hospitality experience.
  • Confident selling and customer engagement.
  • Good styling and product instincts.
  • VM and store presentation awareness.
  • Maturity, reliability and pace.
  • Ability to support others without taking over.
  • Calm judgement and good escalation.
  • Interest in progressing within retail leadership.
SELLING / SERVICE EXPECTATIONS

Retail Supervisors must be active sellers. This role requires confidence with customers, fitting-room support, add-ons, product advice and basket-building. You should be able to coach or prompt others when service becomes passive or standards drift.

  • a good seller but not interested in standards or team support;
  • friendly and reliable but passive;
  • wants a title but avoids ownership;
  • avoids giving feedback or prompting others;
  • uncomfortable with VM, stockroom or operational standards.
TRAINING & PROGRESSION

Glassworks uses evidence-led training, role play, live floor observation and release gates. Supervisors may support new starters, prompt selling behaviours and contribute to training evidence where appropriate. Progression beyond Supervisor depends on evidence of commercial ownership, coaching ability, standard-holding, live-trade judgement and readiness for broader store responsibility.
