Canopius is looking for an experienced Workday Financials Reporting Analyst to design, build, andmaintaincustom reporting and analytics across the Workday Financials domain. The successful candidate will translate finance and accounting requirements into robust custom reports, with a particular emphasis on Composite, Matrix, and Advanced reports used to deliver financial statements such as income statements, plan-versus-actuals comparisons, and otherconsolidatedmanagement reporting

This is a 9 month Day Rate Contract inside IR35.

This is a hands-on build role. You will own report definitions end to end: selecting the right data source, constructing the necessary sub-reports, assembling them into Composite reports, applying calculations and formatting, and validating output against finance sign-off criteria. You will work closely with finance stakeholders, accounting teams, and the wider Workday configuration team, and you are expected to review your own work rigorously before it goes to a business owner.

Responsibilities

Gather and refine reporting requirements from finance and accounting stakeholders, and translate them into report designs that are accurate, performant, and maintainable.

Design and build custom reports across relevant Workday report types, including Advanced and Matrix, selecting the appropriate typefor each requirement.

Design, build, and maintain

Composite reports that combine data from multiple sub-reports into a singleconsolidatedoutput, including:

Building the underlying Advanced and Matrix sub-report sand enabling the correct business objects for filtering and grouping so that eachsub-report references all enabled objects.

Configuring control field columns, data columns, lookup field value columns, calculation columns, and empty columns.

Applying repeating column groups (for example repeating by company or cost Centre), prompt sets, analytic indicators, conditional formatting overrides, and drill-to report links.

Using dynamic control fields for accounting work tagsso that a single Composite report can generate multiple financial report variants.

Build Matrix reports that summarise and drill down on data, configuring row and column groupings, summarisation, and field values groups, both as standalone outputs and assub-reports for Composite reporting.

Build Advanced reports, including the use of dynamic data rows,sub-filters, and sort orders, both as standalone outputs and assub-reports for Composite reporting.

Build and reuse calculated fields to reshape, format, retrieve, and derive data not directly available on the report data source.

Select appropriate report data sources, distinguishing between standard, indexed and Prism data sources, and tune reports for performance (indexed fields for filtering, faceting, aggregation, and grouping).

Validate and troubleshoot reports using tools such as Validate Composite Report, Report Definition Usages, and the Clean Up Custom Report task; resolve join exceptions, anomalies, and warnings.

Configure output, sharing, scheduling, and report groups (including bursting) so that finance deliverables such as year-end statements run reliably and on time.

Manage report security appropriately, working within the relevant security domains and ensuring users see only the data they are entitled to.

Document report designs clearly andpreparedesign specifications for review and business sign-off.

Support testing, reconciliation of report output to source data, and knowledge transfer to finance users.

Skills

Extensive, demonstrable experience building and maintaining

Workday Composite, Matrix, and Advanced reports. This is the core requirement for the role:

Composite: fluency withsub-reports, control field and data columns, the full range of row types, calculation expressions, outline structures, repeating column groups, prompt sets, analytic indicators, and drill-to links, and the ability to explain the design trade-offs behind each.

Matrix: confident configuration of row and column groupings, summarisation, drill-down, and field values groups, and use of Matrix reports as Composite sub-reports.

Advanced: confident use of filters,sub-filters, dynamic data rows, sort orders, and use of Advanced reports as Composite sub-reports.

Proven track record building custom reports across the broader Workday report catalogue (Trending and others) in a Workday Financials context.

Strong understanding of Workday reporting fundamentals: business objects, report data sources, and fields, and how data source selection drives…
