40 million people wear spectacles in the UK alone, but the optical industry hasn’t changed enough in three centuries. Products are tired, standards are mediocre, and the experience is dull. We’re going to change that, and build the world’s most innovative and customer-centric spectacles company.

The Role

To help us deliver on that ambition, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Optical Associate. You’ll be at the heart of the customer experience — welcoming people into the store, guiding them through frame and lens choices, and bringing our brand, craft, and values to life. With a blend of technical expertise and warmth, you’ll help create memorable experiences for every customer while supporting the smooth, collaborative running of the store.

Your

key responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional service at every stage of the customer journey that is underpinned by our customer experience non-negotiables.
  • Communicate the Cubitts brand story, mission and values to enrich the customer experience.
  • Assist with frame and lens selection, offering expert product advice tailored to individual needs.
  • Accurately dispense prescription and non-prescription lenses, explaining lens options clearly and confidently.
  • Perform frame adjustments and basic repairs to ensure the perfect fit.
  • Introduce every customer to our Made to Measure service, bringing its craft and purpose to life.
  • Maintain a clean, organised store environment, ensuring displays and stock are well-presented.
  • Follow GDPR and patient confidentiality guidelines at all times, maintaining trust and professionalism.
  • Collaborate closely with your team and other departments, fostering a supportive and team-oriented environment.
What we’re looking for:
  • Someone who thrives in a customer‑centric environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding service.
  • Genuine passion for spectacles, you are aligned to and inspired by our brand and values, excited to contribute to our mission.
  • Proactive self‑starter with a positive attitude and the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent communicator, confident in both written and verbal skills.
  • Highly organised, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, optical experience is not essential but is a bonus.
Our Values
  • We try to improve things, by doing things better or more simply celebrating both innovation and failure.
  • Associate
  • Approaches situations with an innovative spirit
  • Uses initiative to get things done
  • Eager to learn and grow professionally (both vertically and horizontally)
  • Positive in the face of changes and challenges
  • Proud
  • We take pride in doing things properly, deeply committed to the highest standards with a relentless drive for consistency in quality and detail.
  • Associate

  • An inspiring team member who always goes above and beyond
  • For all
  • We treat everyone with the same warmth and respect, and without ego.
