Christmas at Fortnum & Mason is truly extraordinary. Our iconic First Floor Christmas Shop becomes the heart of the festive season, welcoming customers from around the world in search of exceptional gifts, decorations, and unforgettable experiences.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Retail Supervisor to join us on a fixed-term basis until 3 January 2027, helping to lead our team through one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Seasonal Supervisor, you'll support the management team in delivering an exceptional customer experience while maintaining outstanding operational and visual standards throughout the Christmas season.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and motivating a team to deliver world-class customer service.
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the First Floor Christmas Shop.
  • Driving sales through excellent product knowledge and customer engagement.
  • Ensuring high standards of presentation, replenishment, and stock management.
  • Coaching and supporting both permanent and seasonal team members.
  • Managing customer queries and resolving issues with confidence and professionalism.
  • Supporting key operational procedures and peak trading activities.
What We're Looking For

We're seeking a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys leading by example.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous supervisory experience within retail, hospitality, or a customer-focused environment.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure during busy trading periods.
  • A positive, collaborative, and proactive approach.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, late-night shopping events, and key festive trading dates.

Please note that this is a physically demanding role, requiring prolonged periods of standing and walking, regular lifting and movement of stock, and the ability to work comfortably in a busy, fast-paced retail environment throughout the festive season.

Due to the nature of our peak trading period, we are unable to accommodate extended periods of holiday during the seasonal contract.
