Ferrous Metals Trader

Our client is an established Steel trader with an international presence.

We are seeking a commercially driven Ferrous & Steel Trader with strong experience in physical steel markets. The role focuses on originating and executing profitable steel trades while expanding supplier and customer networks across domestic and international markets.

This position suits a trader who understands steel flows, pricing structures, mill dynamics, and the importance of financing, logistics, and risk management in delivering consistent margin.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Trade physical finished steel, semi-finished steel or ferrous raw materials.
• Source material directly from mills and large producers
• Develop and manage relationships with mills, stockholders, processors, and end users
• Identify arbitrage opportunities across regions and markets
• Structure trades incorporating financing, import/export logistics, and margin optimisation
• Negotiate purchase and sales contracts to maximise profitability
• Monitor global steel pricing, raw material inputs, freight markets, and currency exposure
• Manage contract execution from pricing through to delivery and payment
• Maintain strong market intelligence and performance reporting

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE RRQUIRED:

• Proven track record in steel trading or ferrous commodity markets
• Strong network within mills and/or major steel distributors
• Deep understanding of steel specifications, grading, and production flows
• Experience managing international shipments and trade documentation
• Commercially astute with strong risk and margin management skills
