The bit about us
The Arding Rooms is x+why’s award-winning private members' club and events venue, located within the beautifully restored Arding & Hobbs building in the heart of Clapham Junction. We are very proud to have created a welcoming space where members and guests can work, socialise, dine and celebrate.
We host a variety of corporate and social events, from team building and training days, seminars and Christmas parties, to engagements, birthdays and baby showers.
We’re looking for an Event Sales Executive who knows that hosting a successful event is about more than everything running smoothly. It’s about creating an atmosphere where people feel genuinely welcome, well looked after and free to relax and enjoy the occasion.
The bit about the roleYou won’t be short of reasons to get excited about selling this venue as it has some serious wow factor! Think beautifully restored stained-glass dome windows, interiors to rival any five-star hotel and, the cherry on top, a rooftop terrace with sweeping views across London’s iconic skyline!
From conferences and private dinners to drinks parties and celebrations, you’ll own event enquiries from the first conversation to a confirmed booking.
You’ll get to know what clients are looking for, host show rounds, create proposals and follow up on opportunities - ultimately turning great enquiries into memorable events.
It is a commercial role with targets to hit, but how you get there matters too. We want someone who listens, understands what a client is trying to achieve and brings a warm, personal approach from the very first interaction.
The bit about youAs an ambitious sales professional, you love the buzz of turning an initial enquiry into a contract.
You’re commercially minded and comfortable working towards targets, but you’re not about the hard sell. You listen, ask intuitive questions and build strong relationships that give clients confidence they’re in safe hands.
Personality is a big part of this role, but you’ll also be confident using CRM tools, Microsoft Office and social media for lead generation. And given our passion for sustainability, working for an ethically driven business will mean something to you.
You also know the job doesn’t end when the contract is signed. You’ll work closely with the team delivering our events, care about what happens on the day and take real pride in seeing something you helped bring through the door come to life.
Ideally, you will bring event sales experience from a hotel, members’ club or similar hospitality-led venue and understand the full sales journey.
Why x+why? We want people to enjoy coming to work. Even on Mondays.
In return, you’ll join a business that’s ambitious, entrepreneurial and genuinely collaborative. You’ll be selling an iconic venue, working alongside an exceptional hospitality team, and your impact will be visible from day one.
We welcome people from all walks of life - believing the best teams are shaped by different stories, experiences and perspectives. If the role feels right for you and you think you could bring something to it, we’d really like to hear from you.
What next? And if there’s anything we can do to make the application or interview process work better for you, just let us know.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
