Role Summary

The Security Controller in the Security Operations Centre (SOC) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of facilities by monitoring the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system, logging significant occurrences, and coordinating responses to fire alarms and other security alerts. This role is essential in overseeing security operations, focusing on surveillance, incident response, and emergency evacuation support.

CCTV Monitoring and Management
  • Oversee the CCTV system, continuously monitoring live camera feeds to detect and respond to any suspicious or unusual activities.
  • Perform regular checks to ensure all surveillance equipment is fully operational, reporting any issues as necessary.
  • Coordinate with on-ground security personnel to initiate immediate responses to observed incidents.
Incident Logging
  • Maintain a detailed daily log of occurrences, including incidents, actions taken, and any required follow-up.
  • Ensure accuracy and clarity in log entries to support effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Escalate significant security or safety concerns to the Security Manager promptly.
Fire Alarm Response
  • Respond quickly to fire alarms, assess the situation, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to fire safety protocols, ensuring a structured response for safety and efficiency.
  • Possess knowledge of fire alarm systems, including resetting alarms, responding to false alarms, and supporting evacuations as required.
Evacuation Assistance
  • Assist with building evacuations during emergencies, ensuring safe and orderly exits for all occupants.
  • Participate in periodic evacuation drills, reinforcing familiarity with safety protocols for all involved personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with other emergency teams to manage crowd control, conduct safety checks, and facilitate re-entry as needed.
Communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively report incidents and coordinate with security teams.
  • Ability to respond under pressure:
    Capable of reacting swiftly and effectively to alarms and emergencies in a high-stakes environment, supporting safe outcomes.
Adherence to Site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Follow all established site-specific SOPs to ensure consistency, compliance, and safety in all security operations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of updated SOPs and apply them in daily responsibilities and emergency situations.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to SOPs and other site policies as required.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Experience:

    2+ years in a security operations centre or similar environment, in CCTV monitoring and incident response.
  • Technical skills:
    Proficient in operating CCTV and security software; familiar with fire alarm systems and emergency procedures.
  • Attention to detail:
    Strong observational skills with the ability to detect unusual activities and respond swiftly.

    Effectively assesses situations and formulates appropriate responses to diverse security incidents.
