Security Operations Manager – 10 Fenchurch Avenue – England, EC3M Role Overview

The Security Operations Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all security measures. This includes health & safety, manned guarding of physical assets, and management of security technology systems including CCTV, Access Control, and associated platforms.

The role supports the Senior Management Team on all security matters, requiring a proactive and positive approach to building operations. The postholder must demonstrate excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise under pressure, strong time management, and meticulous attention to detail. The role demands someone who is self‑motivated, proactive, and committed to sharing knowledge across the team.

Core Responsibilities
  • Monitor and administer all aspects of the Control Centre technology systems including Access Control, CCTV, Intercoms, Lift Controls, and Fire Command Panel.
  • Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of building layout and operations.
  • Conduct appropriate CCTV patrols and monitoring.
  • Run reports and view CCTV footage as required.
  • Provide initial call handling for all security control centre calls.
  • Ensure all critical alarms are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Ensure full compliance with all site Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitor access and egress of personnel and respond to breaches.
  • Maintain permit to work procedures at all times.
  • Supervise sub‑contractors and cleaners in business‑sensitive areas.
  • Compile detailed, succinct, and timely written reports in accordance with post orders.
Operational Duties Shift Management
  • HAND-OVER – When taking over from another shift, communicate with the outgoing controller and/or DSM to be fully briefed on all events from their shift and any days you have been absent. At the end of every shift, prepare and send a written handover report to the Security Manager and Operations Manager.
  • DAILY BRIEF – At the start of each shift, conduct a daily briefing with all team members covering their assigned positions and duties. The brief must include a presentation check: confirm all officers are wearing the correct, complete uniform and are presentable to the required standard before taking up their posts.
  • DAILY CHECKS – Check all equipment at the start of each shift to ensure it is operational, including radios, cameras, access control systems, mobile and landline phones, lifts, Blackviews, and keys.
  • ROTA’S – Inform officers of their rotation at the start of each shift. Ensure all officers are in position as scheduled and following the rota correctly, completing all relevant patrols.
  • TIMEGATE – Check Timegate daily and fill any unscheduled gaps. Confirm all staff have accepted their duties. Schedule shifts ahead of time to prevent discrepancies in the service.
Logging & Reporting
  • EDOL (ELECTRONIC DAILY OCCURRENCE LOG) – Add shift event entries in the EDOL including, but not limited to, when patrols are conducted and any significant events such as site visits and incidents.
  • LOGBOOKS – Complete all checks folders and report any problems found. E‑log any defects discovered onsite.
  • CHASE UP FAULTS – Follow up on any reported faults with lifts, keys, cameras, or radios that are out of service, and provide updates.
  • LATENESS REPORT – Complete daily when necessary. Send a monthly report to the Security Manager and highlight any concerns.
  • ROOF & OCCUPIERS REPORTS – Ensure daily total visitors, 14 Stories, and occupier footfall are logged on the Excel spreadsheet and filed in the roof report folder.
  • DAILY FOOTFALLS – Keep the site footfall spreadsheet updated including cyclists, motorcycles, and cars.
  • ARM’S VISITS – Ensure the ARM’s visit report is filed on the shared drive in the correct folder and logged on the EDOB.
  • ENGINEERS ISOLATION RECORD – Sign engineers’ records when they enter the control room to set isolations, and sign them off once removed.
People & HR
  • PERSONAL FOLDERS – Maintain personnel folders, ensuring they are completed for new starters. Manage diary reminders for one, three, and six‑month probation meetings.
