Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteering with Change Grow Live is a great way to make a real difference in people’s lives whilst gaining valuable experience. Whether you want to give back to your community, develop new skills, or meet like-minded people, there are plenty of reasons to get involved.
Volunteers make an enormous contribution to our work at Change Grow Live. Last year over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of million hours of their time to our organisation.
Would you like to join our growing team of volunteers, and make a real difference?
At CGL Waltham Forest you will be working with people to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual, and live life to its full potential. As a Recovery Support Volunteer, you will be working in close collaboration with the team, assisting them in their caseload management, supporting the service user through all aspects of their treatment journey.
This can include completing assessments, supporting people to work towards community and inpatient detoxes, supporting group work and undertaking one to one work. You will be an integral team member and will play an active role in helping our service users achieve their goals. You will receive training and support and work towards holding a small caseload of low-risk clients.
Activities
- Support the recovery coordinator to carry out comprehensive assessments, triage, risk assessments, risk management plans and to contribute to the development of individual community recovery plans
- Provide 11 key work session including harm reduction advice and recovery planning
- Support those who use our services to achieve their care plan goals
- Support and empower service users to engage in recovery activities both within Change Grow Live and the wider community
- Work towards a small caseload of low-risk service users, coordinating their treatment options
- Document sessions on case management systems
We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice. We are actively recruiting people who can offer us 1 - 3 days per week to work within our drug & alcohol service; we are specifically looking for people who are keen and enthusiastic and would be able to commit to staying as a volunteer with us for up to one year.
