Advanced Youth Offending Service Officer
£30–£34 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Youth Offending Service Officer to join a dynamic Youth Justice Team, supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes and reduce re-offending through a Child First, Offender Second approach.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of youth justice cases, including out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, ensuring all work is delivered in line with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework. You will play a key role in assessment, intervention, court work, and multi-agency collaboration to safeguard children and young people and support long-term desistance from offending.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of youth justice cases, ensuring timely and high-quality case management
* Deliver effective, child-centred interventions using a trauma-informed approach
* Use Asset Plus as the assessment and planning tool to identify risks, needs, strengths, and desistance factors
* Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people and their families
* Work collaboratively with internal and external partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes
* Prepare high-quality Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports, and Referral Order Panel Reports
* Represent the Youth Justice and Targeted Prevention Service (YJTPS) in Court and other formal forums
* Present clear, evidence-based information to Courts and Panels
* Deliver group and/or individual evidence-based interventions to reduce offending, re-offending, and disengagement from education, employment, or training
* Ensure equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice is embedded throughout all areas of work
* Actively contribute to safeguarding, public protection, and risk management planning
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience working within a Youth Offending / Youth Justice Service
* Strong working knowledge of Asset Plus
* Experience of preparing and presenting reports for Court and Panels
* Ability to engage effectively with children and young people using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach
* Strong communication, assessment, and partnership-working skills
