Acquisitions South Team Member Asian Languages
The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and gives access to the world’s most comprehensive research collection.
Working in our Acquisitions South Team, you will be using the Library's acquisition and cataloguing system to check, order, record and pay for material selected for the Asian and African Collections, which house some of the world’s finest resources for the study of Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
You will have excellent knowledge of written Chinese alongside a general knowledge of the geographical areas covered by these Collections. An effective administrator with an eye for detail, you will be computer literate with effective communication and interpersonal skills. A background in library acquisitions work or procurement would be an advantage.
Please be aware that this role involves a significant amount of manual handling, such as lifting and opening parcels and transporting items on book trolleys.
Please note that a 10-minute test to Romanise Chinese script into Latin script (Hanyu Pinyin) is required at the interview stage for this position.
