Role summary
Working as part of a dedicated housing team, you will play a key role in maintaining safe, supportive, and well-managed housing environments. You will support residents to sustain their tenancies, access appropriate services, and maintain a positive quality of life through a proactive and person-centred approach.
This is a fully on-site role requiring attendance across sheltered housing schemes five days per week.
What you will do as a Sheltered Housing Officer
· Deliver an enhanced tenancy and estate management service tailored to older and vulnerable residents
· Carry out regular scheme inspections to ensure communal areas are safe, clean, and well maintained
· Coordinate with voids and property teams to support the rehousing process, including inspections, viewings, and tenancy sign-ups
· Support residents with tenancy sustainment, welfare benefits, and rent account management, taking early action to prevent arrears
· Identify and report tenancy breaches including antisocial behaviour, illegal occupation, and subletting
· Respond appropriately to emergencies while maintaining compliance with safeguarding and health & safety procedures
What you will need as a Sheltered Housing Officer
· Previous experience within housing management, supported housing, or a customer-facing role supporting older or vulnerable residents
· Strong understanding of tenancy management, rent arrears prevention, and relevant housing legislation
· Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience supporting vulnerable individuals
· Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
· Confident using IT systems to accurately update and maintain housing records
· Empathetic, adaptable, and self-motivated with a genuine passion for improving residents' wellbeing
· Ability to work fully on-site across sheltered housing schemes five days per week
