As a frontline housing officer you will hold a caseload of homelessness cases, working directly with applicants to reach lawful conclusions under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will prepare statutory notifications and make defensible decisions under supervision of the Cessation of Duty Manager.

  • Communicate decisions clearly and sensitively to residents;
  • Identify safeguarding and vulnerability concerns and escalating promptly;
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records in preparation for reviews, legal challenges and complaints.

You will work closely with colleagues across Housing, Legal Services, Adult Social Care and Children’s Social Care, as well as external partners. The service operates a prevention‑first, trauma‑informed, resident‑centred model underpinned by Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) principles.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrable knowledge of housing legislation – particularly sections 188 and 193 of the Housing Act;
  • Experience managing a frontline homelessness caseload;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to make legally sound, empathetic decisions.
