Position Overview
Student Engagement Assistant – full‑time, permanent.
Location:
London, campus‑based.
Hours:
37.5 hours per week (09:00 – 17:30, Monday to Friday).
Salary:
Up to £29,250 per annum.
Benefits: 25 days holiday allowance (33 days including bank holidays), group life assurance, group income protection, pension schemes, private healthcare (optional).
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide accurate guidance about key services and signpost to appropriate departments such as Academic Advising, Events, Finance, Registry, Residence Life, Student Engagement, Student Support, and Office of Global Services UK.
- Day‑to‑day management of the University brand merchandise shop, including sales and stock control.
- Assist students with navigating online resources – VLE, timetable, Wi‑Fi access, Target Connect, attendance technology, etc.
- Advise students on campus facilities, amenities, welfare facilities, teaching and collaboration spaces, technology and study spaces.
- Review First Point queries regularly, identify patterns, and recommend improvements to support services.
- Participate in the wider Student Engagement team, providing general administrative support as required.
- Work flexibly within the staff body and contribute to the overall success of services provided to students.
- Support university events, especially those outside normal operating hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Essentials
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience suitable to this role.
- Experience in a student services role in an educational setting.
- Experience in a customer service role.
- Experience of student activities and events.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Able to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
- A professional, positive and welcoming demeanour.
- Ability to deal calmly and effectively with individuals and enquiries.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Excellent organisational skills, keen attention to detail and ability to manage and prioritise a diverse workload.
- Desirables
- Previous experience in a student affairs or engagement capacity.
- Familiarity with university systems and platform tools.
