About the Role
Make a real difference as a Housing Management Worker at a service in Lambeth. You’ll lead safe, high‑quality accommodation for young people at risk of homelessness, driving standards across repairs, voids, rent collection, and compliance while working closely with landlords, contractors, and support teams.
We’re looking for someone with housing or supported accommodation experience, strong tenancy management knowledge, confidence with welfare benefits, and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
Key Duties- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures.
- Advise prospective or new tenants of their rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/license agreement.
- Ensure repairs are undertaken to a high standard, within appropriate time frames, and represent value for money.
- Maintain accommodation units in accordance with the management agreement and bring them quickly into management to minimise void loss.
- Prepare short reports on arrears, voids, and repairs for the service manager, central services and commissioner meetings.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the premises and provide client information on health and safety.
- Facilitate the fair allocation of letting accommodation in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Collect rents and service charges and report rental income, voids and allocations accurately to the finance team.
- Liaise with local Housing Benefit Teams, Social Service Departments or other authorities regarding individual rental income claims.
- Develop personal payment plans with clients to support them in avoiding rental debt.
- Serve as first point of contact for landlord queries and contractors.
- Support and facilitate the work of volunteers.
- Contribute to making the environment a positive place for all staff, volunteers and students.
- Attend training as appropriate to development and undertake further duties as required by the line manager.
- Advocate client involvement opportunities, promoting the Voice of the charity and attending residents’ meetings when appropriate.
- Attend team meetings when required.
- Experience of working within a supported and/or social housing setting.
- An understanding and commitment to working in an assets‑based way.
- Understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use or leaving care.
- Knowledge and understanding of housing management.
- Knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
