Location: Greater London
Salary range: £42,912 - £49,155 per annum. Salary negotiable depending upon experience
Work location: Bessborough Family Hub, Bessborough Centre, 1 Bessborough Street, London SW1V 2JD
(this is a bi-borough role with a clear expectation for the postholder to work flexibly across multiple hubs as well as within the local community to meet service needs)

The RoleAs a Best Start Parenting Practitioner with our children’s Services Parenting Team, you will be responsible for the delivery, organisation and coordination of parenting programmes, updating case notes on our database and occasionally writing reports. You will contribute to team meetings, record parental engagement, and focus on improving the lives of vulnerable children in our communities by enabling their families to look after them successfully as they grow into adulthood.
You’ll develop strength and resilience in parents, providing high quality support from pregnancy to age 5. You will maintain small caseloads, build and develop positive, effective relationships with families, and promote a culture of respect, discussion, openness and challenge.
Responsibilities- Deliver parenting programmes to families.
- Work individually with vulnerable families, including those under Child Protection and Children in Need Plans.
- Identify risks and needs of children where parents’ capacity is impaired by substance misuse, domestic violence, mental health difficulties, or other factors.
- Present reports in person and in writing to case conferences and court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case notes and record parental engagement.
- Participate in relevant training, keep up-to-speed with government legislation and departmental policies, and ensure equal opportunities policy is implemented.
- Proven experience delivering parenting programmes to families.
- Experience working individually with vulnerable families.
- Experience with Child Protection and Children in Need Plans.
- Ability to work across linguistic and cultural barriers.
- Confidence to report and provide evidence in formal settings such as Family Proceedings courts and Child Protection case conferences.
- Understanding of risk identification and safeguarding principles.
