Working StyleYou’ll be based in the Borough for 5 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that makes a real difference to residents’ lives.
What You’ll Be DoingAs a Sheltered Housing Officer you’ll be the friendly, familiar face that residents know and trust. Based in one of our sheltered housing schemes, you’ll help older or more vulnerable residents feel safe, supported and part of the community – all while ensuring the building is well‑maintained and secure.
You’ll carry out regular checks of community areas and help residents report any issues within their homes. You’ll also help residents settle in, access support and navigate community services. Whether you’re signposting help, solving everyday challenges or supporting someone with a tenancy issue, you’ll use your initiative to respond with care, professionalism and calm. You’ll work closely with carers, contractors and council teams, and you’ll play a vital role in keeping the scheme clean, secure and welcoming.
You’re likely to work alone, so you’ll need confidence in using your judgement and knowing when to escalations are necessary. You’ll manage access to the building, keep accurate records and monitor performance against housing management standards. Every day brings new challenges, and your efforts will help shape a safe, supportive environment where people feel at home.
What You’ll BringWe’re looking for a calm and diplomatic problem‑solver with confidence to manage situations independently. Experience in a customer‑focused environment is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.
You’ll need to be organised, reliable and comfortable juggling different tasks. You’ll also be confident using computer systems and maintaining accurate digital records. Most importantly, you’ll have a warm, approachable personality and the sensitivity and resilience to support residents from a range of backgrounds. Interview DetailsInterviews will be held on MS Teams during the week commencing 20th July 2026. This role requires an Enhanced DBS with adults barred list.
