Children & Young People Coordinator- Young Carers

Then join our experienced team supporting children and young people who have caring responsibilities for someone in their family due to disability, long‑term illness, mental health, or drug or alcohol misuse. You’ll help deliver our Young Carers service across Southwark, so a car driver is preferred.

• Manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments and create action plans.
• Provide support for Young Carers to reduce the impact of their caring role and improve their resilience, educational chances and wellbeing, through sign‑posting to local services, in‑school support, one‑to‑one sessions, and workshops.
• Work closely with schools, Children’s Services and other agencies to raise awareness, identify hidden Young Carers, and ensure their needs are understood and acted on.

• Confidence, approachability, and self‑motivation with the ability to quickly establish rapport with children and young people.
• Relevant experience of working or volunteering in education, health or social care, or a strong desire to start a career working with children or young people.

This is a full‑time role (including occasional early evenings and Saturdays). The position is subject to references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
