Contract Type & SalaryFull time, fixed term contract until March 2027. Salary £29,701.36 per annum (inclusive of London weighting, subject to home location & working arrangement).
Hours and On‑call37.5 hours per week. Part of out‑of‑hours on‑call rota. Service hours 8am–6pm Monday–Friday. Expectation to work some days 8‑4pm or 10‑6pm to cover duty shifts.
Role OverviewWe are recruiting a Duty Independent Gender Violence Advocate to work closely with survivors of domestic and other gender‑based abuse, providing high‑quality independent support, guidance, and advice across all risk levels and their children. The Duty IGVA will be the first point of contact for survivors referred to the Gaia Centre, handle self‑referrals, and respond to daily enquiries from partnership agencies, phone and email.
The role may involve contacting survivors directly, assessing risk, implementing safety plans and needs assessments, and handing over cases to relevant teams.
- Act as first point of contact for referred survivors.
- Process self‑referrals and determine eligibility.
- Respond to daily enquiries from partnership agencies, public and impacted individuals via phone and email.
- Contact survivors directly to assess risk and needs.
- Carry out and implement safety plans and needs assessments.
- Ensure effective handover of cases to relevant teams for ongoing support.
- Provide emotional, practical, and personal welfare support and promote a safe, supportive environment.
- Inform survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options to increase safety.
- Work within a multi‑agency framework including MARAC and local partnership protocols prioritising survivor safety.
- Operate efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
