Location:
Manchester Job Type: Full-time Join the Leaving Care, Children’s & Education Services at Manchester City Council as a Personal Advisor. This role is crucial in supporting young people aged 16-25 who have been or are looked after by the council, assisting them in their transition to adulthood and independent living. Day-to-day of the role:
Manage a caseload of young people, maintaining accurate case records and undertaking statutory recordings. Contribute to and provide ongoing assessment for Pathway Plan Assessments, promoting full engagement of young people. Undertake assessments for young people resuming or wishing to resume education/training or those presenting with other support needs post 21 years. Work closely with young people to promote their welfare and ensure their views and wishes are considered in assessments, Pathway Plans, and reviews.
Provide flexible advice, practical assistance, and support to enable successful transitions for young people. Coordinate the provision of services and ensure young people make use of such services. Identify and supervise the delivery of support packages for young people living in the community, in accordance with their pathway plan. Ensure young people receive appropriate financial support and assist them in developing financial management skills.
Support young people in gaining access to appropriate accommodation. Work in partnership with a range of agencies to ensure an integrated, holistic response to meet the needs of young people. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in planning, organising, problem-solving, and decision-making. Effective administrative skills and the ability to maintain administration systems in a changing environment. IT proficiency in multiple applications and systems. Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance including the Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, and related regulations. Full driving license and access to a vehicle on a daily basis.
Willingness to consent to and apply for a DBS check. Required to work flexible hours between 08:00 - 20:00, Monday to Friday.
