About the Role
Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer
We are currently recruiting a Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer to join our high-performing Neighbourhood Housing Team and help deliver excellent housing services across Tower Hamlets.
This is a dynamic and flexible role where the successful candidate will be deployed across one of our 22 neighbourhood patches, and TMOs based on service demand. This includes supporting high-volume areas, covering staff absences, and filling temporary vacancies to ensure continuity of service delivery.
About the role
As a Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will take responsibility for managing a designated neighbourhood patch as required, delivering high-quality, customer-focused housing and estate management services. You must be adaptable, resilient, and able to quickly build relationships with residents and colleagues across different teams.
You will be expected to:
- Manage neighbourhood patches to a high standard, engaging with residents and carrying out regular estate inspections
- Proactively address hazards and ensure fire risk assessment actions are completed
- Deliver efficient lettings in line with local and national performance targets
- Support and sustain tenancies, helping prevent homelessness through early intervention
- Identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns, working in partnership with relevant agencies to protect vulnerable residents
- Manage and respond to hoarding cases, ensuring appropriate interventions, support, and risk management plans are put in place
- Respond effectively to domestic abuse (DA) cases, providing a sensitive and coordinated approach, including referrals to specialist services and safeguarding measures
- Carry out all aspects of tenancy management in a professional and sensitive manner
- Manage complex cases involving residents with additional needs
- Take enforcement action where required, including breaches of tenancy, unauthorised occupation, successions, and court attendance
- Communicate effectively with residents in a range of situations, including challenging and sensitive circumstances
- Work to performance targets and manage competing priorities effectively
- Use housing management systems such as Northgate (SX3) and Contact Manager
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who:
- Is committed to delivering excellent customer service
- Has strong housing management experience
- Has experience or understanding of safeguarding, domestic abuse, and complex needs cases (including hoarding)
- Is flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work across multiple neighbourhoods
- Demonstrates sound judgement and effective decision-making
- Can manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
